About the Role

The Financial Analyst will be involved in all aspects of the day to day running of the Finance Department and will contribute to the development and implementation Discovery’s accounting systems, policies and procedures.  They will maintain complete and proper records of revenue, expenditure, assets and liabilities, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information. 

 

The duties and responsibilities of the Financial Analyst will include but are not limited to:

  • Manage annual budgeting process and quarterly reforecasts along with subsequent presentations for Executive Managers
  • Completion of financial and analytical reports to be included in monthly board reporting
  • Maintain all Finance Department Excel models for internal reporting including Marcos
  • Assist with month end processing, reconciliations and reporting and participate in:
    • The calculation and posting of journals including revenue and expenses
    • Financial statement preparation and auditor requirements
    • Preparation of statutory returns (BAS, PAYG, FBT etc)
    • Generate and review Financial Covenants calculations
  • Provide support to the Operations Teams with monthly reporting, developing new financial systems to capture, monitor, analyse and review financial information

 

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Chartered Accountant (or studying towards)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an accounting or analyst function
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, including writing of Macros
  • Experienced in accounting software systems (SAP Business One and Adaptive desirable)
  • Experience using business intelligence tools (Qlikview, Power BI or similar)
  • Ability to analyse large volumes of data and present key insights in a concise manner to support decision making
